Über Oaxaca
Oaxaca is located in the southern region of central Mexico, and is also a main centre for the Native American culture. The city also contains the largest number of bilingual population speaking both Spanish and Native American languages.

The marketplace in Oaxaca, or New Market, is a site where you'll find not only all traditional and unique products, but also the way locals live, and your chance to prove your haggling abilities. Most of Oaxaca's monuments date back from the 18th century since several earthquakes destroyed the original and earliest buildings of the city. Among its historical monuments, Santo Domingo and Oaxaca cathedrals are a required stop in the city. An array of churches and convents complement this visit. A different sight is given by all the museums the city has, among them the Museum of Contemporary Art and Rufino Tamayo Museum. The zocalo is the central square, a vast flat square, typical of Mexican pictures, where people gather and meet for all kind of recreational and artistic activities. The Ethnobotanical garden guarantees an appealing outing. If you want to breath a little of fresh air and enjoy outdoor activities, go to Benito Juarez Park and Communal Park
of San Felipe. For a day visiting some of Oaxaca's most impressive ruins, visit Mitla, Monte Alban, and Yagul.
